Lessons About How To Stay Safe Online!

Hi bloggers in Te Ngahere we have been learning about how to tell if an email or websites are scams or if people are phishing you. I learnt that if someone asks you for your password on a site then it’s probably a scam because you can just use your email address to sign in. I also learnt that if a pop up pops up then you should just ignore it because it’s probably a scam because if you download it your chromebook/computer could get a virus! From downloading that file and only our teachers can control our updates. Remember if you ever see the padlock on a site and it has red line through it it’s not a safe site to be on. How to keep safe online is easy: Keep cybersmart and don’t ever sign up with websites with a line through the lock with your password. Have your parents ever told you to about phishing and scams?

My Most Amazing Creativity To Share!

Kia ora Bloggers last night I was very bored so I decided to make my family some dinner. I made the chicken nuggets and spring rolls. I put them in the oven for 20 minutes. The first time we put them in for 10 minutes but they didn’t defrost. I put them back in the oven for another 10 minutes, after I put them in the oven for another 10 minutes they were cooked. I let them cool down, then I told my little brother that I made his favourite chicken nuggets! He came inside and had the chicken nuggets. He didn’t want any spring rolls though. Have you ever made your family dinner?

The Amazing Time In Taupo Bay

Kia ora Bloggers on the school holidays I did very fun stuff one of those fun times was  going to Taupo Bay. It was very fun, because my mum and dad have some friends that own a holiday home in Taupo Bay and they offered for us to stay there. We stayed there for 4 wonderful days I really enjoyed it there. When we were there the waves were so calm. Unfortunately I didn't go for a swim because it was so cold it felt like I was in the south island! My little brother Cooper kept on bugging me about going to the playground. So I decided to go to the playground with him. At the end of our holiday it was so cold that there was a storm. It even started to flood so bad that when we were driving past fields it didn’t look like a field it looked like a river.

Have you ever been to Taupo Bay?

This Awesome Piece Of Art!

Kia ora bloggers, these past few weeks Te Ngahere has been learning about mosaic art, If you don’t know what mosaic art is you basically use shapes to make a animal or a anime character etc. Breeze and Gail were explaining to us how to do it. After we had done the first mosaic we started a new one. The new one was a Ngahere mosaic for our David Attenborough presentation. In my group I did it with did a gold striped gecko the gecko was very hard to make. Especially with the geckos legs and arms. My favorite thing of doing this was that after we finish it who ever uses our QR codes can see our presentation. The most hardest thing to do was put the little shapes everywhere. Have you  done mosaic art before ?

Sharing My Learning On How To Make A Ramp!

This week Te Ngahere has been doing a very fun experiment, that experiment  was a marble challenge. We were learning to make a ramp and drop the marble down the ramp and make sure it travels 110 cm. We did this to learn more about the scientific method. I enjoyed doing this because we got to make a ramp with our own ideas. I had gotten into a group with Alana and Mikaira, our ramp was very hard to make because we had used glue and that didn’t work so then we had to tape the ramp with the toilet rolls we were using. When we were testing the ramps we had tested Mahana, Ebony and Isabella’s ramp. The people who tested our ramp was Poet, Marley and Anika. When I do this next week we should make our instructions more clear for the people to read. Have you  done this challenge before?

This Very Interesting Activity

Hi in Te Ngahere we have been learning about the scientific method. We have been learning about this because next term in week 2 we are having a science fair. We also went to the science roadshow. The first step of the scientific method is to ask a question. When we were saying or writing the steps down we have to say it in our own words. Because copy and pasting isn’t learning it is stealing other people's work.  What I did well was I followed the success criteria to how to do it. Next time I do this I want to improve the Google drawing and be more creative when I do this. Do you know the steps of the scientific method?

Our Smart Relationships

Kia ora, in Te Ngahere we have been learning about how to be Smart in our online relationships and to seek help when we need it. We have been learning about this because we should always be safe online. The first thing we did was we watched a video so we can learn how to be safe and smart online. The video was about a little girl and her name is Becky, she started to talk to a man who was like in his 40s or 30s and he lied to her about his age and saying that he was 13 and she believed him. Next time when I go on social media I will not tell my personal information and wont tell people my age. I also wont post anything that only my family and I should see. Here is a fact: If you talk to people online that you don’t know then you are talking to strangers. That is why you should never believe anyone that you don’t know because it could be anyone.

Have your parents ever told you to not talk to strangers?

The Extraordinary Epro 8 Challenge

Kia ora this week we did an Epro 8 challenge and learned about potential energy and kinetic energy. We built a catapult, for the catapult our teacher had given us a box of things we can use for building the catapult. We started off with 30 bamboo sticks. The groups that we were in had to use kinetic energy which means that energy doesn’t stay still it moves and the Potential energy that energy stays still. The most challenging part of doing this challenge was we couldn’t tie the rubber bands on properly and the bamboo sticks kept on falling down. The thing I think we did well was participating and paying attention. I think we all need to try and not disagree with each others idea and give the idea’s a shot. Have you guys heard of kinetic energy and potential energy?

My Learning About Smart Surfing

Kia ora today I am going to be sharing about what types of words you should use when searching things on Google search. When you search things on Google it doesn’t come with a simple answer for you. If you wrote how big is the largest spider it comes up with lots of different answers and links. That's why you should use keywords when using Google search. For example you shouldn’t use how big is the largest spider, you should use largest spider, because that is the keywords in that sentence. Do you  know what smart surfing is?

The Most Interesting Activity!

Kia ora Last week in Te Ngahere, we had to clean our drive so we would not get mixed up with our work. We also had to clean John’s drive because he didn’t put his work into the right folder and he didn’t name his work. We had to organize and mark his work red that is untitled and mark his work blue if it wasn't named properly. When I finished doing John's activity I had to do my drive. Everything in my drive was filed and titled. Since my drive was done I had to take a screenshot of it and add it to my slideshow. I enjoyed this activity because it was easy and fun to do. Have you guys recently cleaned your drive?

I saw a silver fern and a palm tree fern. I was looking for a gold striped gecko but then I realised the gecko I was researching about lived in the south island. It was really interesting to see all of the different creatures. We saw some little fish that looked like a little rock in the river. The teachers wanted us to see all sorts of ferns. Have you guys ever heard of the gold striped gecko?

My Most Creativity About Taskmaster

Kia ora, In Te Ngahere we have been learning  how to collaborate and work together with our learning groups. We had to copy the picture that my teacher had drawn. We had 10 minutes to finish our drawing. There was two  runners and one drawer. The runner had to communicate to the drawer to tell the drawer what the picture looked like. I could tell that the person in my group that was drawing was struggling very much.

In round one the thing that worked well was that the drawer was listening and paying attention. The thing that didn’t work well was that the drawer was confused when we were yelling at her. The thing that was most challenging was I had to keep running in and out. It was hard because the drawer in my group was really confused.

In round two I had joined another group because my other learning buddy wasn’t at school that day. Thing that worked well was that our picture turned out good. The thing that didn’t work well was the drawer was stressing out. The thing that was challenging was that we couldn’t touch the paper and the drawer kept on getting really confused. It was really hard because the runner couldn’t touch the paper. Have you guys done something like this before?

Work I Absolutely Love Kawa Of Care!

Kia ora. In Te Ngahere we have been learning about the kawa of care. I was in a group of three with my two friends Tiiria and Marley we did an animation about the kawa of care. The kawa of care is something that you need to follow when you get a computer or any other devices.  If you get a chromebook and you spill water on it you won’t get insurance because you didn't follow the kawa of care. I learnt if  you are going to drink or eat put your chromebook somewhere else because it is apart of the kawa of care. Have you  followed the kawa of care?
